My new adventure started on january the 5th, 2020 and that’s my cue to introduce you to my new (host-) family: Meet the Morrisons.

Annabelle and Willy met through a mutual friend a long time ago. While Willy grew up on Pisa (the farm we live on) Annabelle grew up on a farm in northern Victoria. She runs an event management business together with her buisnesspartner Ailsa and if you want to get married in Tasi, she’s the person to get in touch with. Willy is very busy farming and with the harvest season just waiting around the corner there is more than enough work. On roughly 3000 hectar we have about 10 000 sheep (for meat), cattle, grow peas, poppy’s, wheat, clover, grass seed, potatoes and hemp.

Jack …

… or how we call him Jacko, is the oldest of the trio and will turn five in march. He is very caring and always looking out for his younger brothers. What he likes most is being outside and helping on the farm as good as he can. Jacko can tell me the names of all of the farm machinery. Apart from being outside, he is keen on helping in the kitchen when I do some baking and building with the Lego Duplo and Lego Friends is what we usually do being inside.

Henry …

… shortend to Hen or when he is hungry he is also called Hengry is currently two years old, he will turn three in march. Usually he’d be outside and busy with Jack. At times it might be hard for him to keep up with his bigger brother and at other times he can be very strong-willed and would boss his brothers around. Inside he is also keen on helping in the kitchen.

Sidney …

… usually we call him Sid is the youngest of these three and turned one in december. From what I can tell, he will be walking soon, as he is lifting himself up whenever he can. He has a very cheeky personality and knows how to push certain buttons. His favourite game at the time? Definitely peek-a-boo.

The whole family has a good sense of humour and loves good, fresh cooked food. Their garden is amazingly big and I am looking forward to help with the kids and with the garden.

On Pisa I am not living in the homestead but share a side house with french farmworker Romain. It’s very spacious and something new to be located outside the family home, which gives me a new sort of privacy and space.

Mein neues Abenteuer in Tasmanien begann am 05. Jänner 2020 und das ist nun auch ein Grund dir meine neue (Gast-) Familie vorzustellen: Die Morrisons

Meine Gasteltern, Willy und Annabelle lernten sich durch gemeinsame Freunde kennen. Willy wuchs auf Pisa (der Name unserer Farm im Übrigen) auf und ist hier der Landwirt. Annabelle wuchs auf einer Farm im Norden von Victoria auf und hat in den letzten Jahren ein Eventmanagement Business aufgebaut gemeinsam mit Geschäftspartnerin Ailsa. Wenn du also in Tasmanien heiraten möchtest, ist sie die Ansprechpartnerin für dich. Willy ist immer beschäftigt auf der Farm bzw. dem Anwesen. Auf ca. 3000 Hektar werden 10 000 Schafe und einige Rinder gezüchtet/gefüttert und Erbsen, Hanf, Kartoffel, Klees, Gras (für Samen, Mohn (für das Opiat) und Weizen angebaut. Mit der Erntesaison nur einen Wimpernschlag entfernt geht die Arbeit natürlich nie aus.

Jack …

… oder wie wir ihn auch rufen Jacko ist der älteste des Trios und feiert im März seinen fünften Geburtstag. In seiner Natur ist er sensibel und schaut auch immer auf seine jüngeren Geschwister. Am liebsten ist er draußen und hilft Willy wo er kann. Jacko kann mir auch die Namen aller Maschinen nennen. Wenn wir drinnen sind spielt er am liebsten mit Lego Duplo und Lego Friends. Wenn ich in der Küche etwas backe kommt er auch immer dazu und hilft mir eifrig.

Henry …

… aka Hen oder wenn er hungrig ist rufen wir ihn auch Henrgy (hungry Henry = Hengry) ist der zweite der Jungs und zurzeit zwei Jahre alt. Auch er feiert im März seinen Geburtstag. Meistens findest du ihn gemeinsam mit Jack wenn sie draußen beschäftigt sind. Manchmal kann er nicht ganz mithalten mit Jack und gleichzeitig kann er meinungsentschlossen seine Brüder herumkommandieren. Drinnen hilft auch er gerne in der Küche.

Sidney …

… gekürzt einfach Sid is der Jüngste der Partie und war im Dezember ein Jahr alt. Bis er zu gehen beginnt wird es nicht mehr lange dauern (denk ich). Er hat eine sehr sonnige und freche Art und weiß auch schon genau wie er bestimmte Knöpfe von uns und den Brüdern drückt. Lieblingsspiel zurzeit? Peek-a-boo oder auch “Kuckuck” im Deutschen genannt.

Die ganze Familie hat sehr guten Humor und sie lieben frischgekochtes, würziges Essen von Pizza bis hin zu Pak Thai.

Auf Pisa lebe ich nicht im Haupthaus mit der Familie sondern teile mir ein Nebenhaus Romain, einem französischen Farmarbeiter. Diese eigenen Räume geben mir auch zum ersten Mal eine neue Privatsphäre im Leben eines Aupairs.
